I Hope You Dance
Monday Musical Motivation
This week’s Monday Musical Motivation is a remake of I Hope You Dance, a song that holds very personal and treasured memories for me.
As I was praying about what song to share this week, I knew it needed to be something connected to motherhood.
For me, this song makes me think of everything my mom would have said to me if she could put it to music. I remember buying a book that included a CD of this song and giving it to my two older daughters when they were small. I hoped I could pass along that same beautiful message to them.
It also brings back memories of my mom visiting, dinner cooking while we blasted this song on the CD player, and danced around the kitchen island with my young girls.
Now it is a memory I look back on from a distance, but I can just imagine our Heavenly Father smiling down on those moments and thinking, Yes… this is what I want for My children.
Joy.
Dancing around a kitchen island.
Sweet words.
Simple love.
Nothing dramatic or extraordinary. Probably not the kind of thing that would have made an Instagram post if we had social media back then. But somehow, those ordinary moments become some of our most sacred moments. This song still makes me want to rest in my mom’s arms or gather my little girls into my lap once again.
I hope this trip through musical nostalgia touches your heart too. Maybe it stirs up some cherished memories of your own. And perhaps, just like this remake, revisiting those memories is exactly what we need.
And to my girls… I still hope you dance.
And every once in a while, I hope I get to be there to watch.
And if your motherhood memories don’t ring with the same nostalgic note, I hope you can find comfort in knowing our Heavenly Mother Mary is wishing the same thing for you too!
